Sudden attack not used - the second carves him in half, and the light fades from his eyes. I believe Oros destroyed two hounds, and Frederick, 1? Their whip tongues lashed out as they were destroyed. 5 and 4 to Oros, DC 15 reflex half on both. 6 to Frederic, DC 15 reflex half Loot: Stuff on this page: www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/npc-s/npc-6/sundering-axe-dwarf-barbarianguards: "thought we were away from the hounds..." "Will the wolf cries never cease?" (Sense Motive or Heal or both on the guards) They pick their wounded up, and Adrasteia, and start following you. The castle shudders again, and soon after you see a silver dragon crushing a white dragon's skull against the castle throne. The silver dragon turns into a badly-injured Grenth, and turns to see you. "Ah, you found her! Good, let's get out of here. Fast. I'll rally the men remaining, and we can get to your ship. This was a trap, if it wasn't obvious."

18 Heal, 15 Perception. (Also, what age category was the white dragon and possibly its name? 17 History; 15 Arcana.)
"A Trap indeed... Though I fail to see what purpose did it serve......"
"Let's get to the airship and return, I have a bad feeling about this town and Adrasteia needs rest!"

the white dragon looked very old, on par with Grenth.
"... You know, I didn't specify air for a reason."
The heal check lets you realize the archers probably have a deep-rooted fear of canines, though you've never seen this extreme before. You also notice a few scars on the back of one of their arms.

You reach the airship fields, where you see a small force set to oppose you, with a wolf-man atop the gate, surrounded by 4 pages.
Grenth: "You are in a state of rebellion."
The wolf-man shouts in the governor's voice: "And what of it? The Bloodclaws will not be denied. You think I don't know about the Imperium's deal with the Nightstalkers? I will tear down --"
Grenth: "And replace it with your grand hunts, I assume?"

You have no idea about either, beyond the obvious "governor is a beast-man shapeshifter member of the Bloodclaws."
Grenth: "Don't worry about it, just run for the ship, NOW!"

Loric acts in the surprise round and uses Boots of Teleport to teleport himself, Oros, Adrasteia and Frederick to the airship.

Wow, that was high. You make it, ... per a few clauses in Teleport you appear... about where you meant to.

When you arrive back in Ironhelm, you're brought before the Emperor in his throne room, house of the Darkfrost Throne.
"... What. Happened. In. Acervum?" the Emperor says.

"There is ongoing political unrest in Acervum. I am not aware of the factions involved, Grenth might know."
Loric then explains how their mission went.
"Our mission was to be a swift rescue mission to retrieve Adrasteia. The local government's hesitation to cooperation should have hinted to me that something was amiss. Eventually we got to where Adrasteia was captured, despite the inadequate training of the armies. (By the way, I think I could do something about it...)"
"When we returned to the airship, the governor was waiting for us there, and apparently he is a werewolf of sorts. The situation was utter chaos, so we obeyed Grenth and fled. To this day I have no idea what was and is going on there."
"At least Adrasteia is safe." Loric smiles grimly.

Oros looks up from a bit of a stupor. "Something's happening in Acervum?"

"... Oh, you got her back all right... but guess what else? Open battle on the streets the day you left! Do you have any idea how long it's going to take for the rumors about what you all may or may not have done to die down?"

"Huh? Battles on the streets? Why on earth didn't we notice those?!?"
...Loric ponders.
"Modify Memory, no..."
"Oh no... We've been framed, haven't we?"
"Casting Wish is not an option, since Adrasteia would still be imprisoned... Casting two Wishes maybe... ...But I spent 50k on the airship ...ARGH!"

"Rather, the evening of the day you left. Until this mess blows over, all of you are reassigned to North Mountain Mining Camp Three. You leave as soon as Adrasteia recovers."
