The Barkeep similarly pops his head down. "Someone's hungry, eh? Well, food's on the house. Least I could do for ya'll clearing out my basement."

"Yes, I'd like some healing, please."

Cornelius examines Sul's wounds, "While unpleasant, the scratches aren't infected... I'll help bandage you up and a good's night rest and meal should take care of the healing. If we plan to go somewhere else today, I'll set it with my poultice, just in case."

"I could heal him instead of you using of of those. In fact, let me try..." Josette places her hand over Sul's wounds and mumbles a word.
Cast Cure Light Wounds on Sul, result of 9; 5 hp is healed. I choose to put myself in a spot.
You feel cold for a moment Sul, and probably shudder as the spell happens. You feel hungry afterwards, as if the spell used your own energy.

Nyota climbs back up, and if only for josette's sake elects not to bring the rats with him. Truly a waste of good sauce. In any case... "Thanks, barkeep. Free food is the best food! Whatever you've got, I'll take it extra rare."

Sul, you watch as the wounds you have taken begin mending themselves, but you can't help but feel almost violated as the magic from this spell seems to drain your energy, leaving you tired and famished. Can you suffer such necromantic magics or does it assail your sensibilities beyond reason? Josette certainly seems like nothing is amiss.
Nyota, your hunger overwhelming your curiosity of what lies deeper within the cellar passage, you return to the main floor of the tavern to find that The Barkeep has already prepared a meal for everyone. A table is set and each plate has just what each of you might find appealing, within the limits of such an establishment. "Aye, and don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from!"

"... tired... hungry..."
Sul heads up to eat, with just those words.

Josette also goes upstairs to eat.

Cornelius finishes oiling Cicada's newly replaced ball joints, and goes off to dine as well... After scrubbing the oil and grime from his hands.

As he smells the food, Nyota grins wide. "Barkeep, you are a helluva guy." He closes the door to the cellar and locks it once everyone is up--wouldn't do if something else came shooting up as they eat.
He darts to the table, set with meats and vegetables and breads that, while nothing glamorous, is pretty much a feast for him right now. Without waiting for the others, Nyota tears into the food ravenously, with a fervor you'd expect from those rats he just offed. He only pauses his assault on the food to say, "Didn't expect this to be up so fast; were you making this beforehand?"

Josette begins to attack her meal with a vengeance, hungrier than she had realized.

Sul, starving from that spell, eats as well, wolfing down the food.

Putting this on hold until after the new years. I've got too much stuff going on right now. Enjoy the holidays everyone!

It's kind of odd. You don't recall seeing, hearing or smelling The Barkeep preparing any food, even those of you that elected to remain upstairs. It's as if, while you were distracted by any one thing, the food just magically appeared there, though it did not immediately beg your attention as such. It wasn't until The Barkeep mentioned it that you even really noticed the food being there. In any case, the food is quite delicious and invigorating. After only a few bites in, you begin to feel completely refreshed, akin to waking up after a satisfying nap. "Ah, yes! I always try to keep some food on hand." The Barkeep smiles widely.

You must choose a question from the list. From the question you asked I could interpret as "What happened here recently?", "What here is not what it appears to be?", or "What should I be on the lookout for?". Which one of these do you want to know? The first one is probably not a good option since the food was already here before you came upstairs.

Discern Realities: 10 What is about to happen?, What happened here recently?, Who’s really in control here? Cornelius sniffs and prods at his mysteriously appearing food with an eye (and nose) for detail. "I didn't hear or smell you cooking while I was up here, barkeep. You must be a very discrete chef."

It is kind of odd. It's also delicious! Nyota ponders the answer for a second, says, "Ok!" and goes right back to stuffing his face. A gnoll never passes up a free meal after all, and with all the weird crap going on he figures it's not worth worrying about whether or not our gift horse has cavities.
