"Take this!"
I attack the less damaged of the rogues
13:51 Maxim_6 1d20+10 Less Damaged Rogue 13:51 Alea Maxim_6, Less Damaged Rogue: 26 [1d20=16]
13:51 Maxim_6 1d8+7 Damage 13:51 Alea Maxim_6, Damage: 9 [1d8=2]
13 damage actually because I was using power attack
Spending a hero point to grant myself an extra standard action to attack the more damaged thug.
13:52 Maxim_6 1d20+7 More Damaged Rogue 13:52 Alea Maxim_6, More Damaged Rogue: 13 [1d20=6]
But it flops
Hero Points: 2-1-1

Drops. One left, Adrasteia hits for 9. Loric turn, then Thief 2.

Neglecting ragesong, Loric implies facts and asks a question in a single sentence. "Please surrender."' If the remaining thug does not surrender, this happens:
I 5ft step back, unbuckle my shield and fire a barrage of two Magic Missiles at the thug-- *gack* Loric gets a shoulder cramp and is unable to finish the spellcasting gesture. Then spending a hero point for an extra action.
Gazing into the distance, Loric touches the ring on his left hand, sighs and fires another barrage of two Magic Missiles absentmindedly. 5 damage. 3 damage.

"Better this than the dungeons..."
The thief, on his last breath, takes a swing at Loric, pulls a damaged muscle, and collapses. Fight over.
A few guards rush in and say, "We heard a commotion. What are you doing? Drop your weapons immediat-- oh, Lord Splendentium... What happened..." Another says, "Ah! These four have been wanted for months! Well, three, now."

I shake my head.
"A few men who have wasted their lives. We were attacked by them. Please carry over with the usual procedure even with this group as the assaulted party. Such waste..."

"Their lives, and around seventy others..." The officers finish stabilizing the survivors, and haul them off.
You later arrive at Manor Splendentium for dinner with the Duke. RP time.

Raijin gave a panicked look when the guards demanded they drop their weapons. "This isn't what it lo---" Raijin started to reply, but fortunately the guards recognized one of them. After calming down a bit, he said "Just some ruffians, I wouldn't let it bother you too much Loric."

"You won't get through to him, Raijin. Loric's always been a sensitive one." Oros works out the kinks in his muscles after that last slash right through a man.

((This discussion is on our way to the manor. Please confirm us moving to, describe the manor and oversee the RP with the duke present when the time comes.))
Loric glares sideways towards Oros, raising his eyebrows all while still focusing his vision beyond the horizon.
"Hm--? Oh, you had some interesting magic there, Oros. An unique Transmutation effect affecting all allies. Probably at least on par with Haste. Something you discovered while traveling, maybe."
Focusing at Raijin: "Mass murderers, hmm... I'm jumping at conclusions here but maybe not. Perhaps their motive is related to Fate, I cannot come up with any other reasons to lead such a life."
"...Bleh. I wish I was able to identify who was corrupted by choice and who not so I could initiate effective combat faster without asking first."
"Oh well, let us head towards the manor. My father must be waiting and possibly Rusko as well."
Loric keeps walking blindly towards the direction we were heading prior to the interruption.
"You shouldn't need to impress my father, he's not interested in politics. Be at ease and home."

"Actually, it isn't magic, it is a specific kind of tribal berserker chant. It calms one's mind like meditation, then apparently allows those who hear it to use much more physical strength than they had thought they possessed. I've studied it over the course of the last few years. I hadn't thought it would be as useful as it has been in our last few battles..."

"Neat. I'm all for tribal berserkers...!"

At Loric's comment, Raijin put a hand to his head and said "Good grief you really do think Fate is behind everything..." Putting his hand down he continued "In all likelyhood, these were just some saps who attacked us for their love of money, not the machinations of some abomination trying to kill us all. I doubt Fate even realizes we exist, much less cares about killing us. So with any luck, we can leave him alone, some heroes will rise up and stop him for us, and we won't have to worry about him anymore."

"Oh, you have a good point there! Clearly we should cooperate with others who've been chosen as heroes against Fate as well..."

Raijin just sighed and said "You're hopeless Loric. At any rate, it is nice of your father to invite us to dinner like this." Raijin started to wonder, would the father like Loric's decision to become a Paladin? He dismissed these thoughts as the group came within about a block of the mansion.

"Actually Raijin, I'm inclined to agree with Loric here, for once. The fact we've been visited by Hope may put a target on our heads for Fate's forces... And yes, I thank your father for his hospitality, Loric. Though I've never actually met your family, just heard your stories of them."

"I've met one of his family", Adrestia cuts in, "they seem pretty nice" she remarks as the mansion draws near.

Linebeck sends Jacob away. He keeps out of the conversation, though he clearly shows some disdain when Loric suggests that they had been chosen by Fate.

When you arrive at Manor Splendentium, the butler, Silus, answers and leads you to the table.
Duke Splendentium arrives a few seconds later, and says, "Welcome home, Loric. Ah, I see you're here, too, Oros. Welcome." He turns to Warden, Adrasteia, and Raijin. "And pleased to make your acquaintances. I'm Duke Splendentium."
As he says this, you notice an orangutan in a suit, with a nametag saying, "Mister Ape, Chief Librarian" appears though a small gate and deposits Rusko. [[When I said your shift was over for the day, I meant it!]] He disappears.
