Adrestia feels a frisson of fear, and takes a careful step backwards. She realises this is no ordinary Lieutenant and silently berates herself for her aggressive opening, reminding herself that there are always stronger opponents, and that until she knows where she stands, the cloak of anonymity should serve her better.
As they walk she carefully reaches into her coat, withdraws a battered notebook, writes a note, before snapping it shut and placing it back in her coat. As she walks, she reflects on the orders they were just given. As a lone wolf, she personally considered frontal assaults silly and ineffective. She wonders if she could find a slightly elevated, and perhaps unseen spot outside the gates, which she might use to her advantage.

"If you survive your first battle, Linebeck, then you can upgrade. But for now, everyone follow. To the sparring fields!"
He then assigns you each a sparring partner, who utterly trounces you half a dozen times in a row before Grenth assigns you to other tasks. As you're traveling to your different barracks, you hear a faint voice coming from the Archer's Pits. It is quite faint, but you can hear someone saying "help! help! I'm stuck!"

Oros uses his wings to take a quick leap to the Archer's Pits. "Is there someone there? Hello?"

"Oh, yes!" You see an ancient-looking man in a pit, with an obviously broken leg. "Please, get me out of here!"

Oros is tall and broad shouldered, and while he is physically imposing, he has a look of kindness on his face. He puts his arms around the old man's waist and uses his bronze-scaled wings to help propel him and the man out of the pit.
"We'll have to get that leg looked at. I believe I saw a medical tent somewhere around here..."

The man is deceptively heavy, and you can't get him out alone.

Adrestia sees the issue, and leans down, pulling him carefully out, assisting Oros

Adrestia snaps her fingers and points at Loric. "Hey you with the magic fingers, get over here and give us a hand"

Seeing the commotion during the march, Raijin walks over to the hole. Once he sees the old man, he nods to his companions and helps to pull him out, using his strength and his wings to help.

Loric looks exhausted but is grinning like a madman. His armor is bruised from the fighting but his shield is still as splendid as ever.
"This is what I've been looking forward to five years!"
Having heard Adrestia call for him, Loric flies to help the others at the well on his silver wings.
"Wow this guy is heavy. How hilarious it'd be if he were a dragon disguised as a human to test our strength!"
"...I didn't mean to insult you, sir."

A faint grin appears on the man's face, then turns to a grimace in pain. "No, I'm not a dragon... Don't think so, anyway."
Need just a bit more strength to do it...

"Jacob, help this man."
A crimson red ghoul appears in front of Linebeck. He is built like a box, massive shoulders leading down to wide forearms that eventually become pitch black. He grits his teeth menacingly before jumping into the pit. He proceeds to help the man up.

"This is Jacob's labor," Linebeck says, "I cannot help him. He should be more than strong enough to lift you out, he is a skilled climber."

"But he is stained and cannot touch me..." He says this as Jacob tries and takes 3 [[nvm this: nonlethal]] damage from searing power.

With all five of you working on it, you somehow easily pull the formerly-heavy man out of the pit. He stands, his leg seemingly mending on the spot, and his age melting away.
(As he does, Warden Linebeck notices a strange resemblance between this man and Frozeover's maximum security prisoner.)
"Thank you, kind ones..." he says, beaming. "Perhaps I should explain this test. In order to avoid a great tragedy, I needed to find some mortals to infuse with my power. However, I can only do so to ones who have demonstrated traits in tune with my nature... Some of you only barely from my past observations, but I'll have to make do. Helping an old trapped man is the quickest way I could think of..." He pauses. "Ah, how rude of me. I haven't introduced myself yet. I am known by many names, but you may call me Hope." As he names himself, his eyes turn purest of white, and radiate warmth and light.
"As a reward for your kindness, take this power..." He waves his hand, and you all gain access to Hero Points.
"And one more thing..." He reaches out and lightly touches each of you on the brow. "When your darkest hour comes... when my brother stands triumphant... when all has ended... call upon my power."
He then vanishes like mist in the wind.
(There is easy access to an army medical building for Jacob to be restored to full hp if you want, at near-any time.)
