The Book of Abstruse Geometries Bound in cracked whale hide, this ancient tome is written in Azlanti, requiring a DC 30 Linguistics check to decipher if that language is unknown to the reader. The Book of Abstruse Geometries details secrets of dimensions and spaces beyond understanding, including hints of the vistas found there and the creatures that dwell therein. If anyone reads the book, which takes a total of 56 hours over a minimum of 7 days, she gains a +4 bonus on any Knowledge checks pertaining to matters concerning the Dark Tapestry and its inhabitants. Once the book is read, the mind-shattering secrets contained within the tome cause the immediate loss of 2d4 Sanity points, with no save (see the Insanity and the PCs sidebar on page 29). The book also functions as a spellbook, and contains the following arcane spells: contact other plane, dimension door, ethereal jaunt, phase door, planar binding, and symbol of insanity. In addition, the book provides details and methods for conjuring a dimensional shambler (see page 80). In fact, the tome contains different equations for calling more than 100 unique dimensional shamblers, allowing the reader to call one of the creatures with planar binding, thus bypassing the shambler’s resist conjuration ability. Unfortunately, many of the unique shamblers listed in the book have met other fates in the time since it was written, so there is only a 20% chance of successfully calling a dimensional shambler per casting of planar binding. Using the tome also has the side effect of drawing unwanted scrutiny as well. Each time an attempt is made to call a dimensional shambler, there is a 10% chance of attracting the attention of some inhabitant of the Dark Tapestry. Exactly what sort of creature this is and how it responds are left to the discretion of the GM. The Book of Abstruse Geometries is worth up to 20,000 gp to the right buyer.

GMSpoon (GM): Treasure: Most of the Dark Rider’s belongings were destroyed or taken away for further study by the mi-go, but a metal storage bin near the operating tables holds what remains of his possessions, including a suit of shadow mistmail (see the Advanced Player’s Guide), a +1 GMSpoon (GM): wounding sickle, a belt of giant strength +2, a Whispering Way amulet, and a pouch holding 155 pp and a diamond worth 500 gp. Finally, the bin holds a queer green stone idol of some octopoid GMSpoon (GM): creature with seven tentacles—the Seasage Effigy, stolen from Lepidstadt University. Bloodbrew Elixir Aura faint necromancy; CL 3rd Slot none; Price 1,000 gp; Weight — DESCRIPTION This ruby red wine carries an aroma of fresh-spilled blood with a persistent finish tasting of iron and scarberries. Anyone who drinks the concoction gains 1d10+3 temporary hit points for 1 hour. In addition, an enslaved vampire or vampire spawn who drinks the elixir is freed from its creator’s control for 1 hour, becoming a free-willed undead creature for that time. At the end of the hour, the vampire is once again enslaved under its creator’s control. Bloodbrew elixir is highly addictive to vampires, and any vampire who drinks it must make a DC 20 Fortitude save or become addicted to the bloodbrew. Thereafter, the vampire must drink a new dose of bloodbrew every day, or take a –2 penalty to Dex, Con, Str, and Wis and lose her fast healing ability, until a new dose is taken. The addiction can only be cured with greater restoration, or the vampire must make three consecutive saves, one per day, against the elixir’s DC, after a day of not taking the drug. Should the vampire take a new dose of the elixir before the addiction is cured, any past successful saves are negated. A living creature who drinks the elixir gains the temporary hit points, but takes a –2 penalty on saves against energy drain and negative energy effects, including channeled negative energy, for 1 hour. Bloodbrew elixir is not addictive to living creatures. CONSTRUCTION Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, Craft (alchemy) DC 25, false life, protection from evil; Cost 500 gp

Radvir’s Crypt: Radvir keeps his personal coffin, a massive stone sarcophagus atop an elevated dais, in this hidden chamber. A long tapestry depicting shining Taldan knights battling the undead legions of the Whispering Tyrant hangs on the far wall. The tapestry is worth 5,000 gp. If Radvir f lees to his crypt, he summons the sentries from area E18 to stand guard over his coffin until his fast healing can restore him.

You find a journal. Its pages tell of how Radvir has ambushed and staked several vampires. It contains a list of not only the vampire elders he has targeted, but also the nobles of Ustalav he framed by falisfying evidence against them. In it Radvir mentions his dealings with the Adrissant sisters, Aisa and Hetna.
He makes mention of a strange elixer they provide him with doses of, Bloodbrew Elixir, that allows a vampire to slip out from under control of its creator for a time. Aisa and Hetna have been providing him with additional doses in exchange for him delivering vampire bodies to an abbey not far outside of Caliphas. It makes mention of the abbey being acquired by the Adrissants a few years ago.
He knew they were associated with the Whispering Way, and muses that they are likely attempting to use the bodies for the creation of a potion of undead transformation.
